Ms. Rosella Yates

Ms. Rosella Yates, 92, peacefully departed this life on February 10, 2026. She was born on November 26, 1933, the only child of the late Clarence and Florence Broadus. Rosella dedicated many faithful years of service to Verizon Communications and its predecessor, GTE Corporation, before retiring. She took pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout her career. A devoted member of Main Street Baptist Church, Rosella faithfully engaged in worship and fellowship until her health no longer allowed her to attend. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and sustained her through the years. She was a member of the Saturday Prayer Group, Member of the Senior Adult Society, and Member of the Amanda Knox Circle. Rosella found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved walking around Lexington, especially in the Green Acres neighborhood after moving there with her two sons. She was an enthusiastic and loyal fan of the Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on. Rosella had a creative spirit and a giving heart. She loved sewing beautiful items for herself and others, always sharing her talents with family and friends. She also enjoyed coloring, a hobby clearly reflected in the many completed coloring books she proudly accumulated over the years. More than anything, Rosella treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Though she may not have realized just how many lives she touched, it was evident that she had more friends than she knew, and her kindness left a lasting impression on all who met her. Rosella was preceded in death by son, Warren Dudley Yates. She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her son, Wendell Yates Sr. and friend Jackie Elzy; one grandson, Wendell Yates Jr.; two great-granddaughters, Emoni (Isaac) Session and Kenya Yates; one special great-grandson, Antjuan Elzy Jr.; one great-great-granddaughter, Winter Rose Bolton; one special daughter-in-law, Brenda Yates; and many dear friends. She also leaves several special friends: Earlene Brown, Flora Byrd, Lois Houston, Wanda Kennedy and Lily Webb. Ms. Rosella Yates will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of faith, love, creativity, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
