Mrs. Ernestine "Tina" Boxx

Ernestine “Tina” Boxx, born on February 9, 1963, and called home on May 28, 2026, was a loving, faith-filled, and selfless woman whose life reflected devotion to God, family, and community. Her journey on this earth was marked by kindness, quiet strength, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew her. Tina lived with grace and purpose, and her memory will remain a blessing to the many lives she influenced through her words, her actions, and her steadfast love. Tina was preceded in death by her father, Aaron L. Knowles; her mother, Anna Howard; her grandparents, Tinty and Jesse Knowles and Smith and Mary McCann; her brother Ernest Knowles, and sister, Marcia “Sissy” Knowles; her grandson, Anthony “Keon” Stewart; her great granddaughter, Cazzelaia Canada; and her mother-in-law Ann Boxx. Though these loved ones went before her, Tina carried their memory in her heart and honored the legacy of family with the way she loved so deeply and so faithfully. She understood the importance of family bonds and held those relationships close throughout her life. She is lovingly survived by her husband of 32 years, James E. Boxx, Jr., who shared in a long and devoted marriage filled with love, partnership, and mutual respect. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Robert Sanford, Jr., Jermaine (Jasmine) Sanford, Rolonda “Two-Five” Sanford, Xavier (Jerrica) Boxx, and father-in-law James Boxx, Sr. Tina was a proud and devoted mother, and her love for her children was evident in every part of her life. She nurtured them with patience, prayed for them with sincerity, and encouraged them with the strength that only a devoted mother can give. Tina’s legacy continues through her siblings, Kennth (Susan) Knowles, Keith Knowles, Alex Knowles, Chris Knowles, Joyce Martin, Tinty (Kim) Knowles and Jaaron Miller, as well as her sister-in-law, Betty McCann. She is also survived by a host of other family members and friends who were blessed by her presence and who will forever remember her warmth, her laughter, and her compassionate heart. The bonds she shared with her family were a source of strength and joy, and her love extended beyond immediate relatives to all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a cherished grandmother and great grandmother to Tionna Sanford, Robert Sanford, III, Jasmin McIntrye, Rhianna Sanford, Glennisha Sanford, Emmanuel Canada, Alexandria Cowherd, Kamari Sanford, S’Haan Sanford, Nazir Sanford, MaHaleigh Sanford, Tatum Sanford, Sariah Robinson, Jalen, Xander, and Zoey Boxx, and 10 great grandchildren. Tina treasured her grandchildren/great grandchildren and found great joy in their lives, accomplishments, and personalities. Her love for them was unconditional, and she took pride in being a guiding presence in their lives. The familytree she helped nurture will continue to grow through the values she instilled and the love she freely gave. A graduate at the top of her class of Bryan Station High School class of 1981, Tina carried herself with dignity and determination in all that she did. She worked faithfully as a Dental Assistant and a Care Giver, roles that reflected her natural desire to help others and to serve with compassion. She was also known as a “Mother” of Growth Point Church, where her faith and service left a lasting mark on the congregation. Tina lived out her Christian beliefs not only in word, but in action, and she was a shining example of what it means to walk in faith and love. Those who knew Tina will remember her as a woman who loved deeply, gave freely, and trusted God through every season of life. Her life was a testimony of perseverance, humility, and devotion. She was a source of comfort to many, a steady presence in times of need, and a bright light in moments of joy. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, church family, and friends. Though she is no longer with us in body, the impact of her life will remain forever in the lives she touched and the love she shared.
