Mr. Earl Clark Jr.

Earl LaVelle Clark, Jr., was born on May 10, 1961, in Fayette County, Lexington, Kentucky to the late Mr. Earl LaVelle Clark, Sr. and Mrs. Loretta Elizabeth Jackson Clark. Earl professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was a member of First Baptist Church Bracktown. It was at Bracktown that he acknowledged his call to the ministry under the pastorage of Rev. Dr. C.B Akins. Earl was a graduate of Bryan Station Sr. High School and received his bachelor’s in criminal justice from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. On November 21, 1980, he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, Delta Sigma Chapter. Earl LOVED his fraternity brothers and they LOVED him! In 2022, he was awarded the fraternities Perseverance Award from the Theta Omega Chapter, Louisville, Kentucky. Earl’s light and love for Omega was always on full display! November, 2025 marked his 45 th anniversary. Earl loved music! Everyone knows that he loved Marvin Gaye, Chaka Khan and of course “The Elements”, Earth, Wind and Fire! He played the piano by ear and could learn a song within a matter of minutes after hearing it. He had a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir and was a member of several bands. Many evenings, the band would rehearse in the basement of his home or in the garage at another bandmate’s house. The best concerts were given in this garage! I guess you could say it was the birthplace of the outdoor concert as many would flock to the backyard to hear them play. Earl answered to a multitude of nicknames and assigned quite a few as well. He answered to Smitty, Smitt, Unc, Uncle Earl, Little Earl, Littlest, Squirrel, just to name a few. Although Earl did not have any biological children, there were several that he held close to his heart. They knew him as Mr. Earl and he was proud to do whatever he could to show his love and support for them. Smitty will be sorely missed! He leaves his sisters “The Girls”, Elizabeth (John) Ray, Indianapolis, IN, Lorrie (Edwin) Wiley, Atlanta, GA, 3 nephews, John Ray III, Matthew Ray, EJ Wiley, his only niece, Carrie Wiley, Aunts Edna (Harry) Madison, Louisville, KY, Carolyn Jackson, Dayton, OH along with his cousins, beloved brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and friends to cherish his memory.
