Mrs. Thelma Eleanor "Ellie" Clay Wright
August 29, 1957 - September 9, 2021
Thelma Eleanor Clay Wright was born on August 29, 1957. She was a native of Lexington, Kentucky and one of ten children born to the late Walker R. and Cora M. Clay. Thelma attended Henry Clay High School. She loved to learn new things and began to study Sign Language. She was a faithful and dedicated employee at Hunter Manufacturing until her illness prevented her from working. She accepted Christ over 12 years ago and professed her love for Christ to all that she encountered. She was a member of Greater New Hope Christian Center, under the leadership of Apostle James and Gloria Smith, and she was an anointed sign language psalmist. Thelma was preceded in death by her brother Walker (Bangs) Clay, and two sisters, Patricia Clay Ward and Joyce Clay. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of twelve years, Carl Wright; two sons, Rodrekus “Fro” (Elena) Beatty, Johnny (Nyeisha) Beckham; one daughter, Canvas Broadnax; three sisters, Vivian James, Loretta (William) Tisdale, and Sarah Clay; four brothers, William “Skinner” (Sharon) Clay, Ronald Clay, Gary (Katrina) James and Walker Clay; one aunt, Elizabeth Gentry and one Uncle, Bobbie Dean Gentry; and her special cousin, Teresa Miles. She will be greatly missed by her 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
