Mrs. Kathryn Jackson Greer was born June 15, 1945 to the late Bailey and Mamie Jackson in Harlan, KY. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church of Harlan, KY. After moving to Lexington, she united with Historic Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate from Rosenwald High School in Harlan. She was known to be witty and a class clown. She was the Head Cook at Head Start and Clark Equipment before moving to Texas where she did private home care. Her passion for Culinary Arts afforded her extraordinary opportunities. She was the head chef for the Post “Cereal” family. She prepared meals for the Late Great Luther Vandross, the cast of the TV show of Dallas and Bootsy Collins and many other celebrities that enjoyed her culinary skills. She preceded in death by her husband, Phelps Greer; siblings, Harold Jackson, Beulah Jackson, Lemuel Jackson, Elizabeth Jackson, Ida Andrews, Joe Mitchell Jackson, Charles Jackson, Frances Christian; a granddaughter, Alana Hawkins; a son, Preston Cotton, a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hollingsworth, a special cousin, Kiesha Cotton and special family, Claire and Jane Hamrick. She leaves to carry her legacy a daughter, Melissa Cotton (Kirk) Hawkins; a son, Dwaine Cotton, a special son, Rodger Cotton; a special nephew, Garnett Lamar Bush; three grandchildren, Preston Cotton, II, Tiffany Cotton and Alissa Hawkins; two great grandchildren, A’Liana Morris and Mila Cotton; one brother, Bailey Jackson, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Virginia Jackson; special friends, Wanda Sue Cotton, Geraldine Cotton Richardson, Danni Shepherd and Wayne Glenn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
