Mr. Jonathon O’Neal Hughes
April 10, 1981 - July 2, 2016
Jonathan O’Neal Hughes was born April 10, 1981 in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the son of Nita Hughes and the late Tom Hughes. While in Mississippi, he attended Newton High School. After he and his family moved to Lexington, he became a graduate of Frenchburg Academy Job Corps. Jay, as he was affectionately known, was a member of Unity Worship Center. He loved and raised pitbulls, this was his passion in life. To hear the the racing of the engine of a race car and to watch the race filled his soul with joy. Jay loved his children with all his heart and being surrounded by friends and family just made life great. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Hughes; maternal grandparents Buck and Mattie Irby; and special cousins, Mattie Johnson and Chris Kidd. Besides his mother, Jay will be sadly missed by the love of his life, Mary Parker; five children, Tay’Zuan “Dooda” Hughes, A’Quavian “Quay” Hughes, Jaymarion “Nookie” Hughes, J’Tavion “Tink” Hughes, ZaMarion “Z-Man” Hughes; two brothers; Robert “Mark” Hughes and Jerry Billups; four sisters, Betty, Beverly, Linda and Peaches; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, including special cousins, LaSonya Breland, Kymberly Johnson, Kenyon Irby and David Irby, and many close friends including, Courtney Kidd, Jeff Harbison, Loui Hall, Tekeyla Singleton, Carletta Parker, Geeks Young and Johnny Washington as well as a host of many other friends.
