Bro. Johnie H. Jackson, Jr

Johnie H. Jackson Jr. was born in Lexington, KY on January 30, 1929. He was the son of the late Johnie H. Jackson Sr. and Hilda E. Jackson. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School and attended Indiana University. He served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1951. Johnie was an electronic technician and worked at both Bluegrass Army Depot and Square D. He retired from Square D in 1996. He was a loving husband, fantastic father and grandfather. He loved his family and friends. Johnie was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where he enjoyed participating in the church baseball league. Johnie loved sports. In his early years he was quite the baseball and basketball player. And, over the years was known to enjoy a competitive game with “young folks.” He looked forward to attending family reunions and gatherings where he could talk about the old times and kid around with others. He leaves to mourn his passing a loving wife, Alice B. Jackson; four caring children, Jonnie Jean (Grady) Stevens, Reverend Keith (Nathalie) Jackson, Dana (Dr. Eliot Thompson) Jackson and Caltha (James Hartzel) Turner; sisters, Jacqueline Grimes, Winston (Ron) Mitchell; grandchildren Adrian Paul (Elaine) Stevens, Grady (Brandi) Stevens Jr., Ashley Jackson, Eric Ware, Bryan (Whitney) Jackson, Kandice (Joshua) McKivens, Jaylen Jackson, Nigel Thompson, Nuri Thompson and Justin Turner; great-grandchildren Marigi, Karura, Ndungi, Ariana, Kaelyn, Emma and Ella Stevens, Daniel and Nehemiah Childs, and Malachi Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by two sisters Josephine Hatchett and Ann Hamilton and a brother Harold Jackson.
