Mrs Erma Dee Mock
November 11, 1923 - May 22, 2021
Erma Dee Mock was born on November 11, 1923, in Marion Junction, Alabama, to the loving parents of Robert and Susie Cole. She was blessed to grow up in a large family, as she was one of ten children. She entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 22, 2021. She moved to Beckley, West Virginia, then onto Lexington, Kentucky. It was while she was in Lexington that she was employed by FW Means & Co., now known as Aramark. Erma Dee accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Once she was residing in Lexington, she became a devoted member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Over the years, she served in multiple capacities within the church. Proudly the oldest member of the congregation, at 97-years-old she remained actively involved until the time of her passing. Erma Dee was also an active member of her community, serving as a member of the Helping Hands organization and as treasurer of the Spiegel Hill Neighborhood Association. She loved cooking, especially baking, and she treasured caring for the young children in her family and her neighborhood. Known by many names including ‘Momma,’ ‘Granny,’ ‘Aunt Dee,’ ‘Sister Mock’ and ‘Ms. Dee,’ she was recently bestowed a new nickname, ‘Dee-Dee.’ Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her dearly beloved husband, Christopher Mock; two sisters, Ida Howard and Bertha Bloxom; four brothers, Gaddie, Robert, C.B, and Willie Cole; two sons, Johnnie and Samuel Mock; and a son-in-law, Glenn “Soda” Gardner. Her memory will forever be cherished by her surviving children, Rev. Ralph (Gloria) Mock, Melvin Mock, Mildred Mock, Brenda Gardner, David Mock and “bonus son,” Kinzel Cole; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members, many friends and her church family.
