Mr. James Howard Emerson

Mr. James “Jimmy” Howard Emerson was born on August 20, 1957, to the late Garnett and Doris Emerson. On January 10, 2026, God gently called Jimmy home, and he entered into eternal rest. Jimmy was a man known for his heart, his humor, and his faith. He attended Henry Clay High School and accepted Christ at an early age at the Historic Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church. Later, He united with First Baptist Church Bracktown, where He faithfully served in the Parking Ministry, I Care Ministry, and Shepherd Keeper Ministry. Jimmy truly loved serving, especially parking cars, and took great joy in his Sunday School class. He was faithful to God and to his church family until the very end. Jimmy worked as a school bus driver and loved every child who stepped onto his bus. He made it his business to know each child by name and treated them all with care and kindness. Outside of work, Jimmy enjoyed fishing and was convinced he always caught the biggest fish. He also believed he was a true grill master and never missed a chance to let everyone know it. He loved drawing and making jewelry, often gifting his creations just to make someone smile. One of Jimmy’s favorite places was New Orleans, Louisiana. He especially enjoyed the swamp tours, taking in the sights and sharing stories about his adventures. Above all else, Jimmy deeply loved his wife, Jural. She was the love of his life, and she cared for him faithfully until God called his name. Jimmy often told her that he loved her “as Christ loved the church” (Ephesians 5:25), and he truly lived that scripture through his devotion, tenderness, and unwavering love for her. Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his children, Brijan Emerson of Lexington, Kentucky, and Michael Emerson of Louisville, Kentucky; his stepchildren, Nicole Saint Germain, Rekeemah Beasley, and JuaQua Beasley, all of Louisville, Kentucky; and nine cherished grandchildren who brought him great joy. He also leaves behind his brothers, Warren (Vic) Emerson, Garnett “Pete” (Susan) Emerson, and Kevin (Francise) Emerson, all of Lexington, Kentucky, and Robert Baker of North Carolina; his sisters, Janice Emerson of Lexington, Kentucky, and Doretha Love of Cincinnati, Ohio; His in-laws, Ronnie Beasley, Louisa Batts, John (Trisha) Beasley and George (Tamera) Beasley, all of Danvilly, KY; and special friends Steve Breathette, Nathan Collins, Robert Caldwell, and Minister Jimmie Jones. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved siblings, Gwendolyn Emerson and Marvin Emerson. Jimmy will be remembered for his loving heart, his faithfulness, his laughter, and the way he made people feel seen and valued. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
