Mr. William Thomas Mosby
February 28, 1949 - August 8, 2020
William Thomas Mosby was born February 28, 1942 to the late Mr. Curtis “Doll” Mosby and the late Ms. Willie Mae Black Taylor, in Lexington, Kentucky. He passed away on August 8, 2020. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Shiloh Baptist Church. He was a 1961 graduate of the old Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and a member of the Dunbar Alumni Society until his health began to fail him. He was also a former member of the Flamingo Social Club. William was an avid admirer of the University of Louisville’s sports teams and NFL Football. He was a hard worker who retired from both IBM/Lexmark and Amazon’s Distribution Center. He had many names through the years. He had been known as “Tom MO,” “Willie T,” “William,” “Mr Bill,” “William Thomas,” but most importantly “Daddy” and “Granddaddy.” He will surely be missed by his friends and acquaintances at his favorite haunts: Members Heritage Credit Union, Walmart and last but not least, Golden Corral, where everybody knew his name. “Mr. Bill” always had a bright smile and a corny joke to tell you. Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by a brother, James “Jimmy” Mosby of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Ms. Vivian Mosby Lloyd of New York, NY; and a grandson, Phillip Williams. He is survived by three sons, Lorenzo Thomas Mosby (the good looking one), Vincent Edward Mosby (the one that kept him on his toes), and Darryl “Booger” Williams (the quiet one), all of Lexington, KY; a daughter, Mrs. Angela (Herman) Johnson of Lexington, KY; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Trish (Rakeem) Slaughter-Hailey of Charlotte NC, Ms. Natia Chinn, Vince Bennett, Marcus Adams, Brandon Williams, Brandon (Randi) Price, Zaelin Johnson, and DaVon Lear of Lexington, KY; four great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Mrs. Edwina (Marion) Taylor of Keene, KY; and a host of other relatives and friends.
