Mrs Valtza Worsham Mabson
March 12, 1933 - July 2, 2021
Elect Lady Valtza Worsham Mabson was born to the late Lady Addie C. Brown and Allen Bradshaw on March 12, 1933, in Lexington, Kentucky. She passed into eternal rest on Friday, July 2, 2021. She attended Fayette County Public Schools and was a graduate of the original Dunbar High School. As a teenager, she met the handsome Oliver R. Mabson while he was visiting his cousin, Mary Frances. A year into their courtship he was drafted into the United States Army. When he returned four years later, they were married on October 22, 1952. To this union was born seven beautiful children and later a spiritual daughter. Lady Mabson was brought into the church as an infant by her mother under the pastorate of the late Bishop S.L. Henry, and continued her membership under the late Bishop S.P. Rawlings. She had remained a faithful member under Chief Apostle T.E. Clark, Jr. until her passing. She served the church in a multitude of capacities on both the local and the national level. These included, but were not limited to, the Nurses Guilds, Pastors Aid, the Bishop Willing Workers and the Mothers Boards. Lady Mabson and Elder Terry Bailey were the originators of the concept of Loyalty Month. She also volunteered with the culinary committee when the church was still at 548 Georgetown Place and the kitchen was on the third floor. Besides her parents, Lady Mabson was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of over 65 years, Deacon Oliver R. Mabson, Sr.; and two children, Beverly Mabson-Baker and Frank H. Mabson. Lady Mabson leaves to cherish her memory, her three sons, Oliver Mabson, Jr., Stephen (Vera) Mabson and Micah (Faith) Mabson, Atlanta, GA; her three daughters, Addie (Eugene) Stewart, Chicago, IL, Gwen (James) Holloman and Diana Mabson; 40 grandchildren, over 100 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mamie Holloman and Frances Mabson; four godchildren, Roy Mabson, Jr., Angela Redmond, Mary Liz Holloman and Joseph Higgins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, her church family and friends, including a very special young friend, Bro. Gary Ragland
