Mrs. Shirley Ann Demus

Shirley Ann Demus was born January 30, 1941 to the late Dorothy Fields and Frank Burnside. Mrs. Demus was a retired employee of Fayette County Public Schools. She was a member of New Jerusalem Church of God under the pastorate of the late Pastor Louise Edwards. Mrs. Demus was not just the matriarch of her family but of South End Community. She was a mother to all that came in contact with her and sat on their porch. For this she will be greatly missed. She was the loving widow of Mr. Felix “Philco” Demus, whom she was married to for over 40 years. Besides her husband she is preceded in death by two sons, Terry Dewayne Demus and Gary Lee Demus, Sr. and a granddaughter, Jennifer Fishback. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Felisa Washington; four sons, William (Eva) Burnside, Kenneth Demus, Keith (Bonita) Demus, and David (Melissa) Demus; 33 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 10 great- great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Brown; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Demus and Dorothy Demus; a brother-in-law, Cornelius Demus; an aunt, Sarah Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
