Shelia C. Warner, the wife of Gary Warner and daughter of Delores E. Spencer and the late Clyde Penman was born May 13, 1955 in Lexington, Kentucky and departed this life on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Shelia confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. A. B. Lee at Greater Liberty Baptist Church. Sunday, August 6, 2017 the church voted to receive Shelia as a member of Historic Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church based on her statement given to the Rev. Dr. Thomas H. Peoples, Jr. at Mayfair Manor Rehabilitation Center. The friendship and respect she had for her pastor continued outside the walls of this facility. Shelia received her education from the Fayette County Public school system and graduated from Bryan Station Senior High School in 1973. She was a committed employee for 33 years at the University of Kentucky. Her dedicated service afforded her the opportunity to advance to Dietary Supervisor. In 1991, she married Gary Warner who was a loving, faithful, and caring husband who shared in the untiring care giving along with her mother, children, and family. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by a brother Stephon Penman. Shelia leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 26 years Gary Warner; two children: Jenatá (Jerel) Martin and Crystal Bates; mother: Delores E. Spencer; two grandchildren: Eric Hayden, Jr. and Isyauna Shequelle; siblings: King Joseph X (Louisville, Kentucky), Vincent (Casie) Irvin (Louisville, Kentucky), Libby (Robbie) Parks, Lisa (Gary) Johnson (Danville, Kentucky), and Carla Grey (Danville, Kentucky), Denita Dunn, (Danville, Kentucky); aunts: Audrey Jackson (North Carolina); Armenta Dale (Alonzo) Gates (Nicholasville, Kentucky), and Flora Overstreet; mother-in-law: Lillian Warner; special cousin: Tracy Givens; special friends: Beverly Hardin and Teresa Bates; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
