Mr. Robert "Pinky" Brown II
August 27, 1947 - February 1, 2020
Robert Pinky Brown, II was born on August 28, 1947, to his loving mother, the late Mary Margaret (Ambrose) Graves and his adoring father, the late Deacon Robert Pinky (Elect Lady Ella Mae) Brown, Sr. in Lexington, Kentucky. He departed this earthly life to receive the joy of a heavenly rest on Saturday, February 1, 2020. Pinky confessed a faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and later joined The House of God Temple #5 under the pastorate of Dr. Catherine Minnifield on January 16, 1998. The church later moved to Nicholasville, KY in 2004, where Pinky received the gift of The Holy Ghost. After relocating back to Lexington and continuing under the leadership of Pastor Minnifield, the church became “The House of Elath,” where Pinky enjoyed attending the Feast Days, The Passover and dearly loved his pastor and church family. Pinky was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was a member of the Class of 1965 at the old Dunbar High School. Pinky was a proud veteran of The United States Army. He served during the Vietnam Era where he worked as a cook and developed his love for cooking. He later had several chef jobs where he further developed his culinary skills and was known throughout the city for the homemade baked pies and rolls sold to many. Pinky was a barrel of fun and truly enjoyed life to its fullest. He was the best storyteller, he could have you believing almost anything he said, all while keeping you in tears from laughing so hard. Among the many recreational activities he enjoyed, sports were at the top of his list and he tremendously loved UK basketball and football games. Pinky developed a love of fishing from his dad, and was the “best fisherman this side of the River Jordan." To hear him tell it, Pinky could sit on the banks of any body of water and fish the whole day away. In addition to his parents, Pinky was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Aletha Denise Givens in Lexington, KY and Nicole Brown in Detroit, MI; one brother, Clarence Lee Jones, Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Karen Cooke Jones. To cherish his memory, Pinky leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Joyce Livingston Brown of Louisville, KY; two daughters, Janet Givens (Jeff) Lewis and Patricia A. Givens; eleven sons, Robert P. (Shauntel) Brown III, Jerome A.
