Mr. Michael Douglas Washington

Michael Douglas Washington was born on December 25, 1948 in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Carrie (Kenneth) Duvall and the late Albert Blackman. On Sunday, August 20, 2017, at the age of 68, he transitioned home to be with the Lord while surrounded by his family. Michael D. Washington married his soul mate, Sallena Estella Bond, on March 11, 1967, in a private ceremony at Saint Peter Claver Church. In addition to dedicating his life to his wife and children, Michael retired from the federal correction institute. He was a graduate of Bryan Station High School's Class of 1966. He attended Kentucky State University and the University of Kentucky. He volunteered reading newspapers to the blind at Radio Eye. He was a part of the Masonic Lodge and he enjoyed his grandchildren, yard work, gardening, and fishing. Michael is survived by his wife, Sallena Washington: two sons, Thaddues Washington and Arrin (Tereda) Yates of South Carolina, two daughters, Dorinda Washington and Lené Washington; an aunt Mary White; eleven grandchildren, Michael (Tamisha) Washington of Stockbridge, GA, Timothy Berry, Christa Washington, Tia Washington, Porsha Washington, Brian White, Charius Yates of South Carolina, Aarin Yates, Damontra Yates of South Carolina, Ariona Yates of South Carolina, and Ariel Yates of South Carolina; two special nieces, Felicia LaPrelle-Leach and Kristy Parks; and a host of other relatives and friends.
