Ms. LáTanya Kareem Conley
June 15, 1974 - March 20, 2020
LáTanya Kareem Conley was born on June 15, 1974 in Lexington, Kentucky to Bertha and Welch Conley. She departed from this life on March 20, 2020. “Tammy” as she was affectionately known, accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. May God bless her memory. Tammy was a teacher, correctional officer, and a radio broadcaster, but her passion was poetry. She read, wrote and breathed poetry. Maya Angelou, James Baldwin and James Weldon Johnson inspired her the most. LáTanya was known for her gift of being able to always say the right thing at the right time. She knew how to coin a phrase and when you needed to talk about troubles or needed a joke, she would always rise to the occasion with wit, charm and humility. She liked to be needed. The only thing LáTanya loved more than poetry was her family. Tammy’s pride and legacy are her three children: Jamar, Gabriel and Jaden. Besides her parents, she is also survived by her siblings, Demetrius Conley and Andre Conley; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, Zelma Shaw being her best. The family would like to thank John Blaine and Sarah Chumley for their unconditional love and support, prayers and condolences in this time of bereavement.
