Rev. John Freddrick Wadkins III
November 1, 1951 - January 31, 2022
Rev. John Freddrick Wadkins, III was born November 1, 1951 to the late Rev. John F. Wadkins and Mrs. Lucy Ella Wadkins in Lexington, Kentucky. He returned to Our God in Heaven on Monday, January 31, 2022. John was educated in the Fayette County Public School Systems graduating from Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky, before joining the US Army. He continued his education and was a graduate of University of Kentucky class of 1981. John attended and graduated from Midway Theological Seminary in 2010. John had a special place in his heart for veterans. After many years of dedicated service, John retired from the Veterans Administration, but continued to spend his time volunteering with Help Hospitalized Veterans. John was a member of East Second Street Christian Church and later moved his membership to Maryland Street Christian Church where his father, Rev. John Wadkins was pastor and where he accepted his call to preach. John served under the late Edger Wallace, Bishop Thomas C. Wallace of New Birth Church of Christ, and Rev. Dr. Bishop E. Carter, III of Bethsaida Missionary Baptist Church. Anyone who knew him, knew any that he would conduct a Bible Study at any given moment. John loved music and had an extensive collection of all music genres. He was also a former DJ at WDKY. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ernest Lee Wadkins and Tony Wadkins; and two sisters Mrs. Johnetta Wadkins Anderson and Ella El-Amin. He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Jean Jouett Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
