Mr. James Segar
November 10, 1980 - September 11, 2021
James Isaac Segar, a native of Davistown, Garrard County, Kentucky, blessed this earth on November 10, 1980, at Ephraim McDowell Hospital to the parents of Debra Kay Segar and the late Richard Lewis. James was called to his heavenly home on September 11, 2021, after a four-year journey with a tremendous amount of courage and faith battling pancreatic cancer. Even though the doctors only gave him six months to a year...God had much more for James to do. His great sense of humor and his loyal, loving and care-free personality will truly be missed. James accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Davistown Baptist Church. From four-years-old until his passing, the city Lexington, Kentucky, had been home to James. His stomping grounds were the Cardinal Valley neighborhood off of Versailles Road, very close to where he will take his final resting place. James began his education in the Fayette County Public School system, moving on to receiving a certification in Auto Body Education at Southside Technical Center at the age of 16. He later received certification in Michigan for mastering automotive paints and autobody restoration. During James' journey on this earth he worked at The Lab Autobody, Bluegrass Autobody, and numerous others. His final projects were at G & S Autobody for the past 16 years. He was a member of the USO Kentucky Car Club. James was an overall artist whose talents were truly original and came from the soul. James’ passion was traveling with his second family, cooking, baseball, collecting shoes and spoiling his family and friends' children. His next venture was to become a tattoo artist with aspirations of opening his own parlor. Whoever met him somehow would be impacted by his presence and conversation in a way that cannot be put into words, keeping you on your feet. His work here on earth has been completed with grace; he has gained his wings and will now be walking around heaven. James Isaac Segar was truly a renaissance man that inspired so many. Besides his father, James was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Richard Segar, an uncle, William I. Segar, and a brother, Bryant Lancaster. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted mother, Debra Kay Segar; three brothers, Christopher Maurice (Maria) Segar, William “JC” Segar and Martellis Lancaster; maternal grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Segar; maternal aunt, Eunice Segar; maternal uncle, Jimmy Segar; three great-aunts, Annette (Frank) Bradley, Josie Hill and Cleora Segar; six paternal aunts; and six paternal uncles. James had two nephews, Christopher M. Segar. Jr. and Zai'vyon T. Segar; one niece, Laria D. Segar; special cousins Kisha Segar (Rufino) Franco, Jasmine Segar, Jonathan Franco and Jessica Franco. His adopted brother and special friends, Jesse Smith (his partner also named Jessi) and his god-children Jenson, Jamison and Josie; and a host of other cousins, family members and friends too numerous to name.
