Mr. James B. Chenault
August 3, 1934 - April 25, 2018
James B. Chenault, affectionately called JB, departed this life early last Wednesday morning at Clark Regional Medical Center. He was born in Clark County, Kentucky to the late Belknap and Birdie Johnson Chenault. He was educated in the Clark County school system. He was a member of First Baptist Church. JB spent his life serving others as a funeral director. He spent time around funeral homes with his father as he was a grave digger. As a young man he worked as a hospital orderly. He helped wash cars at the funeral home, he was asked to drive for a funeral procession, his interest in funeral service began. He studied and became a licensed Funeral Director. In 1972, with assistance of his wife and siblings, JB opened Chenault Brothers Funeral Home. His desire was to provide complete, dignified service to every family regardless of their ability to pay. He didn't stop there, he also made sure people got to their appointments and to work. He also made coroner call pickups for several years. With his wisdom and experience he assisted young funeral directors get started in business. He loved people and especially children, kids called him “Pap-paw” all over town. He loved playing cards. He would play checkers for hours, winning most of the time. He loved UK Basketball. Most of all he loved his family the most. He was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie J. Chenault and sister Mary C. Rose. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Beverly C. Emanuel; two step-sons, Robby (Catherine) Miller and Randall Jackson; six grandchildren, Cassee and Trent Jackson, Tamara and Olivia Miller, Allegra and Joel Emanuel III; one great-grandchild, Trentity Skinner; one sister, Ollie B. Overstreet; two brothers, Fred and John Chenault; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, especially Raymond Johnny Combs.
