Elect Lady Ida Mae March Sykes, Assistant Pastor, was born on February 28, 1931 to the late James and Esther March and called home to her eternal rest on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher C. Sykes, III, a grandson, Randall L. Sykes, three sisters and four brothers. At an early age she joined Consolidated Baptist Church. She later became a member of House of God #2 (now, Greater Shabak Temple of God) under the pastorate of Bishop James B. Thomas, Sr. She served as a Sabbath School Superintendent for many years and was also an Assistant Pastor, until her death. She leaves to cherish her memory, six daughters, Mary Sykes, Irene Sykes McKenzie, Junelle Sykes, Donna Sykes, Pamela Sykes, and Tracy Sykes, and a son, Christopher C. Sykes, IV; nine grandchildren, Debbie (Erik) Bell, Joshua, Jonathan, James, Jason Sykes, Dana, Danielle, Dwight Wooten, Destiny (Eduardo) Wooten Ceballos; seven great-grandchildren, Erik Bell, Jr., Ke’Arie Irby, Jazariah, Joshua, Jr., Jahzion Sykes, Deja Wooten McAfee, and Mulania Wooten Ceballos; one sister, Pastor Catherine Minnifield, four sisters-in-law, Odis Johnson, Cordia (Robert) Pope, Anna and Carolyn Sykes, five brothers-in-law John, James, Robert, William and George Sykes; a close cousin, Sadelia Curtis, close family friends, Magdalene Davis and Marvin E. Simmons and a host of loving and devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
