Mr. Edward "Sonny" Woolfork Garner Sr.
October 1, 1932 - October 11, 2017
Edward “Sonny” Woolfork Garner Sr. was born on October 1, 1932, in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Luther and Fannie Garner. He was a graduate of the old Dunbar High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Sonny took pride in his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. He was their role model for integrity, excellence, compassion, and hard work. His legacy will be carried on through those who knew and loved him. He enjoyed good food - it was often prepared especially for him and cooked with lots of love. He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Darnell Garner; mother, Fannie Garner Jackson; step-father, Aleza Jackson; and sister, Geraldine Garner Montgomery. Sonny was also preceded in death by a son, Todd Garner. To cherish his memory, he leaves his children, Linda Garner Campbell of Houston, TX, Edward W. Garner Jr., Gerald A. Garner of Lexington, KY, Tina Garner (Charles Jr.) Johnson of Cincinnati, OH, Gina Lee of Lexington, KY, and James Thomas of Lexington, KY; three daughters of love, Tara Stone, Ray Blackford and Ellen Cowherd; a niece, Tamika Hamilton of Houston, TX; 10 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; special friends, Gertrude Cowherd, Jackie Stone, and Gwen Alcorn; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. A special thanks to the Charles Avenue Neighborhood Family.
