Mrs. Debra Smithers Sandifer
November 7, 1954 - February 22, 2017
Debra Smithers Sandifer was born November 7, 1954 in Lexington, Kentucky. She was one of six children born to Mrs. Betty Smithers and the late Mr. Thomas Smithers, Sr. Debra received her education at Tates Creek High School. At the age of 9, Debra professed her faith and accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour, she became a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Earl Smith. Later she moved her membership to Little Zion Baptist Church - Avon under the pastorate of Rev. Melvin Gross. She was united in holy matrimony to George Sandifer and to this union three children were born. The Angel of Death called Debra home on February 22, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. George Sandifer. In addition to her mother, Debra is survived by two daughters, Sunserria (Kenneth Andrews) Sandifer and Betty (Gordon Jones) Sandifer; a son, Yullin (Crystal) Sandifer; five grandchildren, Trevon Sandifer, Yullin J. Sandifer, Lakeya Martin, Shalayia McCann, and Jayden Jones; one aunt, Ms. Lucille Wright of Chicago, IL; one uncle, Wallace Yates; five brothers, Thomas Smithers Jr., Calvin Smithers, Antoine Smithers, Michael Smithers, and Stephen (Willette) Smithers, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
