Mrs. Anne Young
March 25, 1928 - April 4, 2016
Anne Mae Young was born on March 25, 1928 in McKinney, Lincoln County, Kentucky to the late Zora and Clo Bell Brown. Anne Mae accepted Christ at an early age at old St. John Baptist Church, McKinney under Rev. Goodloe. She later joined Perkins Chapel AME in Wilmore, KY under Rev. N.L. Passmore. Anne Mae was the mother of ten children and God fearing woman who loved the Lord. She loved and showed affection to all who came into contact with her. We can still hear her singing gospel as we start cleaning the house. Every grandchild was raised on her lap. She was the matriarch of our family, the glue that kept us together. There was never a problem or situation that we couldn’t come to her about. She will truly be missed but the memories will never fade. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Young; a son, Alfred Lawrence; a daughter, Anita Lynn; four sisters, Helen Brown, Estella Vandyke, Lena Lester and Naomi Brown; two brothers, Leroy Brown, and Harold Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Doris (Alonzo)Walker, Valerie Miller, Eunice Thomas, Joyce Hicks; four sons, Charles (Lucy) Hicks, Michael Hicks, Ronald (Kathy) Hicks, Richard Hicks; 42 grandchildren; a host of great- grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren; a sister, Christine Harris; two brothers, Herman (Jane) Brown, James (Lou-Ann) Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and a special friend, Ms. Cecilia Johnson.
