Amanda Ellen “Mandy” Buchanan McCormick was born September 29, 1953. A native of Fayette County, the daughter of the late Grover Buchanan and Christine Bell. For many years, she worked at Pimilico Nursing Home until the declining health of her mother. She then became her mother’s advocate and caretaker. She was a faithful member of the House of Prayer of Versailles and then became an organizing member of the House of Prayer, Inc. of Lexington. She will be affectionately missed by her husband, Elwood McMormick; two sons, Malcom (Tammy) Buchanan, and Stephan Buchanan; three daughters, Rochelle (Elvin) Smith, Fredericka Buchanan, and LaKesha (Bryan) Brown; eighteen grandchildren, Stephanie (Dion) Williams, Andreala (Derrick) Garr, Tiffany Clark, Loretta Clark, Jeffrey Clark, Je`Chelle Clark, LiKuan Clark, Dyamond Clark, Devin Smith, Christine Buchanan, Anthony Beard, Antonaysha Beard, DaQuantae Smith, Antwan Smith, Jr., Zayvion Smith, Elijahjuan Smith, Kahryn Buchanan, Daeja McNair; 39 great-grandchildren; a loving sister, Stella Bell; three brothers-in-law, James McCormick, Lucian Wilhite, and John Lee Wilhite, two sisters- in-law, Brenda Wilhite, and Linda Sue Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
